10:30 a.m. ET: Opening remarks. Join ACDIS director Brian Murphy, ACDIS Boot Camp instructor Laurie Prescott, and a special guest for an exclusive edition of the ACDIS Podcast: Talking CDI. We’ll cover the value of engagement, networking, and community in a time of quarantine. Murphy will also provide an overview of the virtual event and agenda.

11 a.m. ET: James S. Kennedy, MD, CCS, CDIP, CCDS, and Kathryn DeVault MSL, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, FAHIMA, present “CDI Pertinent Coding Clinic Updates.” Session attendees will learn the latest must-have advice to leverage the American Hospital Association’s Coding Clinic for ICD-10-CM/PCS and coding fundamentals in daily record review practices.

1 p.m. ET: Trey La Charité, MD, FACP, SFHM, CCS, CCDS, presents “Stop, Drop, and Roll! Managing Your CDI Programs’ Unexpected Fires.” Session attendees will learn about the numerous problems and pitfalls that lie in wait for CDI team leads, managers, directors, or senior administrators, and obtain advice to be prepared for these eventualities and be ready to adeptly respond. Additional lessons learned from the COVID-19 outbreak.

2 p.m. ET: Networking Break

3 p.m. ET: Laurie Prescott, RN, MSN, CCDS, CCDS-O, CDIP, CRC, presents "It’s Critical: Applying Critical Thought to CDI Practice.” Session attendees will learn that despite technological tools, CDI staff’s best instrument is their critical thinking skills. Through the presentation attendees will obtain additional methods to further hone them to support record review efforts.

4 p.m. ET: Virtual gala. Break out the tux or the black dress and dust off the pearls you’ve haven’t had a chance to wear in a while. Grab your favorite drink and join us online for a CDI networking event. Remember we are stronger together, and although we can’t be onsite with one another we can still benefit from networking together. You never know when sharing a word can lead to insight and long-term friendship, so join us.

11 a.m. ET: Keynote: Joan Peterson presents “Getting Your Voice Heard.” Learn valuable leadership lessons from a Bluepoint Master Facilitator and Leadership Coach. Participants will receive lessons on adopting a proven communication model that shares how to get others’ attention and how to make your message memorable.

1 p.m. ET: Karen Elmore, BSN, RN, CCDS, and Samantha “Sam” Cantin, RN, present “Clinical Guidelines: Your Ace in the Hole.” Even though we can’t be in Vegas right now, let’s have a little fun and education at the same time—Vegas style. Day 3: Friday, June 19

10:30 a.m. ET: Open Q&A Panel: Join the ACDIS Advisory Board for a live question and answer session focused on physician engagement, COVID-19, and general questions from the event community.

11:30 a.m. ET:  Sharon Cole, MSN, RN, CCDS, and Amanda Suttles, BSN, RN, CCDS, present “Let’s Work from Home! Transitioning Your CDI Team from Onsite to Remote.” During this combined session, attendees will explore how to transition from an onsite CDI program to a hybrid or fully remote CDI program. They’ll review important steps to consider including pros and cons of working remotely, policies and procedures, establishing a home office, communication, accountability, and program oversight.

12:30 p.m. ET: Lunch-n-Learn Networking

1 p.m. ET: Erica Remer, MD, FACEP, CCDS presents “CDI in the ED: Where Outpatient Meets Inpatient.” Session attendees will learn how ED record reviews can support medical necessity for appropriate status determination, as well as depicting the patient at presentation, often when they are at their worst.

2 p.m. ET: Elisa Sninchak, MEd, BSN, RN, CCDS, CDIP, CCS, Dana Walker, BSN, CCDS, and Alissa Brown, RN, CCDS, present “CDI Educator and Audit Team: A Partnership for Actionable Education.” Session attendees will learn how the CDI educator and CDI audit roles work together to identify educational opportunities. Attendees will also learn how to develop a concurrent secondary review process, including potential workflow challenges.
