ACDIS update: CCDS-O content outline released

CDI Strategies - Volume 12, Issue 35

The Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist-Outpatient (CCDS-O) committee released the CCDS-O content outline, which is now available for review on the CCDS-O certification page.

The CCDS-O content outline describes domains and core knowledge potential examinees should possess in order to successfully sit for, and pass the CCDS-O exam. The CCDS-O committee developed the outline by comparing job descriptions, job onboarding and training documents, and core job functions and responsibilities across outpatient CDI departments nationwide. The committee looked for commonalities and incorporated these into a single cohesive assessment. The content outline was subjected to external peer review for commentary and validation before finalization.

The next step for the committee is to begin writing the examination, which is expected to be live in testing centers nationwide by the end of the year.
