ACDIS update: CDI Journal focuses on changing technological landscapes

CDI Strategies - Volume 15, Issue 26

As organizations embrace new and more advanced technological solutions—from the advent of EHRs to the evermore sophisticated artificial intelligence solutions on the market today—CDI professionals find that more of their daily work revolves around technology working well for their needs. When those tools work well, they can improve metrics, smooth workflows, and lessen administrative burden for physicians by eliminating clicks and unnecessary queries. When they don’t work, however, they can have a negative impact on all the same areas, plus lead to frustration for CDI staff members.

We’ve devoted the newest edition of the CDI Journal to a bit of couples therapy related to technology—the articles in this edition seek to offer practical advice and tips to help ease your technology relationship woes.

Within this edition’s pages, readers will learn about

This edition also includes articles focused on mortality reviews, constructing a do-it-yourself COVID-19 case mix index research project, advice from a member in our regular Meet a Member column, and takeaways from the ACDIS Online: CDI Summer Retreat from Editorial Director Melissa Varnavas. Plus, our sponsor partner, 3M Health Information Systems, provided case studies covering artificial intelligence, prioritization, measuring CDI impact, and hierarchical condition category capture.

The ACDIS team hopes you enjoy this latest edition and that you glean some helpful information for your CDI program. The September/October edition of the CDI Journal will focus on education, so if you’d like to contribute, wish to share your CDI journey, or suggest an article idea, please feel free to email us.
