ACDIS update: Get ready for CDI Week with these celebratory ideas!

CDI Strategies - Volume 17, Issue 35

Are you so excited about CDI Week that you can’t even think of how to celebrate?

That’s okay: we planned for this.

ACDIS’ CDI Week will occur on September 18 and will end September 22. CDI Week is an opportunity for you and your department to celebrate the importance of the work you do and, perhaps, have fun doing so!

To help the process along, our wonderful Furthering Education Committee has developed some ideas for you to tinker around with.

Here are a few of them:

  • Organize a book club with your department a few weeks before CDI Week and choose a book to read on the subject of finding personal success. Plan your book club meeting to discuss it during CDI Week.
  • Create a scavenger hunt game for the newly updated ACDIS/AHIMA Guidelines for Achieving a Compliant Query Practice.
  • Ask everyone to contribute their favorite book, compile a list, and share. Or do a book swap between coworkers and share your thoughts with each other during CDI Week.
  • Hold a book cover contest that showcases your CDI team. Cut out pictures from magazines to make a collage or use scrapbook materials. Get creative!
  • Offer educational sessions for the CDI team, coders, and/or providers.
  • Create famous book-themed chart review games, such as character patient charts, where participants must figure out what’s missing or how to code the case—with bonus points if they can figure out the book or character the chart is based on!
