ACDIS update: How to get involved with ACDIS

CDI Strategies - Volume 15, Issue 50

Maybe you’re new to CDI and ACDIS, or maybe you’ve been a member and in the profession for a while now and are just looking to get more involved. There are a few things you can do to pickup your engagement level!

First, take a look at the map to see if your state has an ACDIS local chapter. Local chapters offer CDI professionals the opportunity to network on a smaller scale with others in their area about the profession. Local chapters offer educational opportunities, often free of charge, and are a great way to get your foot in the door with ACDIS. Or, maybe you’re in a more niche area of CDI such as pediatrics or work as a CDI educator. There are networking groups for those too, offering the same benefits as local chapters.

ACDIS also has a number of boards and committees dedicated to various facets of the CDI industry, whether it be CDI Week and the scholarship, diversity and inclusion within CDI, and even forms and tools for other professionals to use. Call for new committee volunteers open in January and June, depending on the committee, and only require filling out a short application to take your chance at being a member. Being a member on a board or committee is a fantastic way to get not only your name out there within ACDIS, but have your ideas heard and influence the overall CDI community (most committees also thank volunteers by complimentary membership renewals).

Additionally, ACDIS is always looking for contributors to write pieces for our various publications. Whether the Blog or CDI Journal, we want to hear what you have to say. Blog topics can be anything that your heart desires related to the CDI field and generally run 500-700 words. We accept Blog contributions at any time. CDI Journal articles run an average of 750-1,500 words and should fit into the topic of the edition each time period. Journal topics can be found here, as well as more information on how to submit.

These are just a few ways that you can get involved. For more ways to up your engagement, poke around the ACDIS website and subscribe to the CDI Strategies newsletter to keep up with engagement opportunities.
