ACDIS update: Join us for a risk adjustment webinar on Thursday, April 9

CDI Strategies - Volume 14, Issue 14

Risk adjustment primarily uses diagnosis codes related to chronic diseases to heighten reimbursement for sicker patients. CDI staff need to capture the documentation of these conditions annually to contribute to a patient’s risk score. They must be documented consistently throughout the medical record, regardless of whether the patient is seen in the inpatient or outpatient setting.

CDI professionals tasked with reviewing for risk adjustment—whether they’re in the inpatient or outpatient setting—will find themselves immersed in the world of hierarchical condition categories (HCC), calculating risk scores, and outpatient coding guidelines.

On Thursday, April 9, 1-2:30 p.m. eastern, join experts Laurie L. Prescott, RN, MSN, CCDS, CCDS-O, CDIP, CRC, and Shannon E. McCall, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-I, CEMC, CRC, CCDS, CCDS-O, HSC-D, for a 90-minute deep dive into HCCs and risk adjustment methodologies and learn how to apply the principals to your everyday CDI chart reviews.
