ACDIS update: Offices closed for Thanksgiving, holiday coding tips

CDI Blog - Volume 11, Issue 232

While the ACDIS offices are closed for the Thanksgiving holiday until Monday, November 26, the ACDIS team wanted to spread some holiday cheer with some “helpful” Thanksgiving coding tips. Here is a short list of codes that might prove helpful to the on-duty CDI specialist and coding professional:

  • W61.42X: Struck by turkey (needless to say, if you’re approaching a turkey on Thanksgiving, prepare to be struck)
  • W29.0: Contact with powered kitchen appliance (too many cooks in the kitchen)
  • T18.128: Food in esophagus causing other injury (we’re all eating a lot today, it’s bound to happen to someone)
  • Z63.1: Problems in relationship with in-laws (tensions run high during the holidays)
  • R46.4: Slowness and poor responsiveness (for those tryptophan-induced naps in the afternoon)
  • Y93.61: Activity, American tackle football (for when that afternoon game goes awry)
  • W52: Crushed, pushed, or stepped on by crowd or human stampede (be careful when you’re out doing your Black Friday shopping)

We hope that you have no need for any of these codes and that you have a safe, joyful, and restful holiday with friends and family alike! Today, we’re thankful for you. Happy thanksgiving! We’ll talk to you all on Monday, but in the meantime, here's what the ACDIS team will be up to:
