ACDIS update: Regulatory Committee launches project to tackle conflicting industry guidance
The ACDIS Regulatory Committee, established in 2018, is tasked with the reviewing regulatory policy, coding, and clinical updates, commenting to agencies on behalf of ACDIS, and providing summary, interpretation, and analysis to ACDIS members.
The Committee kicked off a new initiative for 2020, in which the committee will select common questions or topics submitted by ACDIS members, then investigate and research the topic to offer the most up-to-date and appropriate advice. This may include writing in to Coding Clinic, contacting the appropriate regulatory agency, or networking with members of the Cooperating Parties to gain insight and seek to clarify ambiguous, inconsistent, and conflicting advice, or guidance.
ACDIS members can find these ongoing updates on the “Regulatory Committee Insight” page, located under the “Thought Leadership” tab. Click here to read this month’s hot topic advice.
This month’s topic is comparative/contrasting secondary conditions. Topics under review for future release include:
- Diagnosis hierarchy
- Sepsis
- Arteriovenous malformation (AVM)
- Pancytopenia with febrile neutropenia
Please note that any advice or findings included in the articles represent the conclusions and opinions from the Regulatory Committee. The advice and guidance do not replace or supersede any direction or guidelines set forth by your organization, facility, or the Cooperating Parties.
