ACDIS update: Upcoming webinar on aspiration pneumonia, presented live on April 26

CDI Strategies - Volume 17, Issue 14

Aspiration pneumonia is a serious, life-threatening, all-too-common condition that doesn’t always get the attention it arguably deserves. Coding and CDI departments should have a solid understanding of the coding rules and clinical indicators associated with aspiration pneumonia, as well as the impacts on quality and reimbursement, in order to correctly capture and report this critical illness.

On Wednesday, April 26, 2023 from 1-2 p.m. eastern, the webinar “Aspiration Pneumonia: Aspirating Everything From Soup to Nuts” will be held to educate CDI specialists, coders, quality professionals, and revenue professionals on the clinical aspects, revenue and quality impacts, and coding and CDI considerations related to aspiration pneumonia. Please join Natalie Negro, MPH, BSN, RN, CCDS, and Jisha Chacko, MSN, RN, as they explore the intricacies of aspiration pneumonia in the context of clinical understanding, documentation, and coding!

At the conclusion of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Define and recognize the clinical aspects of aspiration pneumonia
  • Explain the impact of aspiration pneumonia coding on reimbursement and quality
  • Demonstrate understanding of the coding and CDI guidelines and considerations related to aspiration pneumonia
