Comprehensive training helps new staff adjust to CDI role

They say starting a new job can be one of the most stressful of life’s challenges. Imagine changing careers.

Ronalyn Reyes, RN, BSN, has been a CDI specialist for little more than two months. Previously employed by BlueCross BlueShield in its prior-authorization arm, she wanted to return to the hospital arena.

“Starting in a new role is difficult in its own right,” says Reyes. Luckily for her, Reyes found the CDI program at University of North Carolina (UNC) Health Care System in Chapel Hill and its 12-week training and mentoring program.
