Conference Updates: Speaker changes you might have missed

CDI Strategies - Volume 11, Issue 12

Since ACDIS first began publicizing this year’s conference, May 9-12, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, there have been a couple changes to the program. ACDIS is extremely excited to bring you the best of the best speakers and our newest additions each offers a unique perspective to widen your CDI horizons.

The first change is the addition of Sorrel King as Day 1 keynote speaker. Originally, Ashby Wolfe, MD, MPP, MPH, chief medical officer, Region 9, for CMS, occupied this spot. Due to unforeseen scheduling issues, Wolfe cannot join ACDIS. Though ACDIS was sad to lose Wolfe, King holds the honor of being one of the “50 Women Changing the World” by Women’s Day Magazine..

King became a nationally recognized patient safety advocate after her daughter passed away as a result of medical errors. Since then, King has spoken to hundreds of organizations about patient safety and authored a book on the topic.

Rebecca Hernandez, BSN, RN, and Zachary Fainman, MD, of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital also join the ranks of ACDIS speakers, replacing  Bonnie Fahy, RN, MN, CNS, CCDS, Carole Jackson, RN, ND, CCDS, and Victoria Aimé, MD, of the Mayo Clinic.

Hernandez and Fainman will discuss using metrics for successful physician engagement. Advocate has a healthy CDI-physician relationship, so ACDIS is excited for Hernandez and Fainman to present their experiences and impart some valuable knowledge.

Finally, Amy Czahor, RHIT, CDIP, CCS, and Angela Franceschi, RN, BA/BS, will take the place of Joellyn Horowitz, MD, CCS, CCDS, Tina Hill, and Debbie White, RN, on Day 3 of the conference.

Czahor and Franceschi present on ways to use clinical analytics for the benefit of the CDI program. Their hospital system uses embedded clinical analytics to monitor the success of the CDI program. They’re excited to share their experiences and offer concrete advice to attendees.

Though the early bird special has passed for the conference registration, attendees can still get a discount on their hotel room. The speakers are worth the registration so book your room today for the best price!
