Director’s Note: Advisory Board applications due November 17

CDI Strategies - Volume 8, Issue 23

Each year, four new Advisory Board members step forward to lead ACDIS, and four trusted members take a step back from their roles. Those who volunteer for the position often find unexpected benefits from their time on the board.

For James S. Kennedy, MD, CCS, president of CDIMD in Nashville who volunteered from 2010-2012, “serving on the ACDIS Advisory Board coincided with my natural desire to see CDI grow as a profession,” he wrote at the time. “Every individual involved with ACDIS is passionate about their professional practice and the integrity to which they execute it. [Being on the Advisory Board] was like being with family.”

Now it’s your turn to help lead the ACDIS family. We are currently seeking four new ACDIS members to join our Advisory Board in 2015 for a three-year term. The role and expectations of ACDIS advisory board members is described on the advisory board page.

If interested, please fill out and submit the application form. The deadline for returning completed applications is Monday, November 17, 2014. A nominating committee will narrow down the pool, and the ACDIS membership will make final selections via popular vote in January 2015.

“National-level involvement can be intimidating but everything you do for the first time can be intimidating,” said Colleen Stukenberg, MSN, RN,  CCDS, clinical documentation management professional at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, who served from 2009-2011 at the close of her term.“Nevertheless, ACDIS is … organization where you can really have a voice and make your influence count.”

We hope you’ll raise your voice, submit your application, and join the ranks of amazing individuals who help lead our association.
