Local chapter update: Add chapter business items to your meeting agenda

CDI Strategies - Volume 15, Issue 28

Now that the craziness of 2020 has somewhat subsided, many local chapters are in the swing of planning both virtual and in-person meetings again. When planning a local chapter event, be sure to allow for 30 minutes or more if needed after the last educational presenter to have a chapter business meeting.

These meetings will help the volunteer leaders gauge interest in participation, assess information needs, identify meeting structure and frequency preferences, and allow the participants to simply get to one another better. These informational meetings also serve as a vital means toward ensuring transparency, allowing all participants to understand the behind-the-scenes efforts of the volunteer leadership team.

During this meeting, the leadership team can:

  • Collect information regarding future volunteer hosts and presenters
  • Identify attendees needs and educational interests
  • Discuss any recent policy or procedure changes
  • Review leadership activities for transparency
  • Present related news and developments from national
  • Review any related financial activities or use

While your chapter members love the education you’re providing, they also want to make sure they’re kept up-to-date on future meetings and chapter business. Don’t forget to set aside that time!
