Local chapter updates: Summer-time meetings offer opportunities for quick insight

CDI Strategies - Volume 11, Issue 32

Local chapter leaders sometimes struggle with knowing just when their members want to meet. ACDIS encourages chapters and networking groups to meet at least four times per year but the scope and format of those events can change to meet the need to the local membership.

For example, summer is a great time to hold a shorter, one-hour, web-based or teleconference-based event. As difficult as it can be to keep up with daily workloads and try to squeeze in some beach and family time, adding in time for CDI education can be tough. Consider asking volunteers to read through a recent edition of the CDI Journal or one of ACDIS’ many position or white papers and sharing the salient points with the members and then opening the meeting up for targeted questions related to the topic.

Just last week, for instance, the Central New York ACDIS Chapter leadership each took a section of the new leadership white paper and shared their summaries of the most salient points with the more than 30 listeners who participated.

ACDIS is all about community and sometimes we learn best when we share what we know.
