News: 2009 CDI Salary Survey available
March 4, 2010
CDI Strategies - Volume 4, Issue 5
More than 300 CDI specialists participated in the 2009 ACDIS salary survey. Respondents answered questions about CDI specialists’ compensation (most make between $50,000 and $70,000 on average), their program structure (most CDI programs employ nurses who report to the HIM department leaders), and their relative experience, education, and geographic locations.
In general, the 2009 salary survey results mirror those from 2008. The majority of respondents say they come from a background in nursing and that they are dedicated solely to the task of documentation improvement. Similarly, most survey participants said they are women between 40 and 60 years old with some level of college experience.
The 17-page analysis of results includes analysis from ACDIS board members and industry consultants, respondents’ anonymous opinions regarding compensation, as well as graphs and analysis on the following categories:
- Salary by job description
- Salary by geographic region
- Salary by metropolitan type
- Salary by program age
- Overtime requirements and compensation
- Documentation program experience
ACDIS members can access the survey results online under the January 2010 edition of the CDI Journal.
