CDI Strategies - Volume 16, Issue 14

The American Hospital Association (AHA) has developed and released a three-year strategic plan they believe will “get us closer to achieving our vision of a just society of healthcare communities, where all individuals reach their highest potential for health” that reflects changes in healthcare due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

AHA’s 2022-2024 Strategic Plan is made up of five pillars to guide the association’s work:

  • Provide better care and greater value
  • Ensure the financial stability of hospitals and health systems
  • Enhance public trust and confidence in hospitals and health systems
  • Address workforce challenges
  • Improve the healthcare consumer experience

“Our plan also acknowledges that equity and behavioral health cut across each of these goals and that advanced data analytics, leadership, and partnerships will be pivotal to achieving their success,” the plan’s introduction reads.

Each of the five pillars will have a “signature effort and strategies that will involve both the public policy arena as well as field leadership. Strategic plan will be backed by operational goals and plans that will guide [their] work and priorities.”
