The American Health Information Management celebrated the induction of its new chief executive officer (CEO) Lynne Thomas Gordon, MBA, RHIA, FACHE, last week, at its annual convention in Salt Lake City. Gordon, who accepted the position in September, replaces Alan F. Dowling who took the post in January of 2010, and interim chief Rose Dunn, well-known consultant and former AHIMA board member.

“The combination of [Gordon’s] executive skills and healthcare knowledge will help lead AHIMA and its members through complex issues and the healthcare industry’s transformation of managing and integrating HIM with a new generation of technology,” said AHIMA Board President Bonnie Cassidy in a release.

Gordon served as associate vice president for hospital operations and director of the Children’s Hospital at Rush University Medical Center, and also served as a Rush University faculty member in the graduate program in health systems management. She served as a governor for the American College of Healthcare Executives and held various offices and was awarded its Early Career Healthcare Executive Regent’s Award. She also served on the information management taskforce of the Joint Commission.
