News: CMS extends deadlines for select inpatient clinical, HAI measure data

The submission deadline for the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) Chart-Abstracted Clinical and Web-Based Perinatal Care (PC-01) Measures, as well as the PPS-Exempt Cancer Hospital Quality Reporting (PCHQR) Cancer-Specific Treatment (CST) Measures, has been extended to Friday, February 24, according to CMS. This extension includes the following 2016 clinical measures:

  • Emergency department (ED)-1
  • ED-2
  • Immunization (IMM)-2
  • Sepsis (SEP)-1
  • Stroke (STK)-4
  • Venous thromboembolism (VTE)-5
  • VTE-6
  • PC-01
  • Adjuvant chemotherapy for colon cancer and combination chemotherapy for breast cancer for second quarter (2Q) 2016
  • Adjuvant hormonal therapy for fourth quarter (4Q) 2015

The deadline for healthcare-associated infection (HAI) data has also been extended to Wednesday, March 15, and the inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF) quality reporting program (QRP) and long-term care hospital (LTCH) QRP data deadline has been extended to Monday, May 15.

The March 15 deadline extension includes the following 2016 measures:

  • Catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI)
  • Central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI)
  • Surgical site infection (SSI)/colon surgery (COLO)
  • Abdominal hysterectomy (HYST)
  • Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)
  • Clostridium difficile Infection (CDI)

The May 15 deadline extension includes the following 2016 measures:

  • CAUTI
  • MRSA
  • CDI
  • CLABSI
  • MRSA

CMS revaluated the original deadlines due to system problems and some users’ inability to access the QualityNet reports to submit their data. These extensions will allow facilities sufficient time to submit the data and run the applicable reports for accurate submission, CMS says.
