CDI Strategies - Volume 17, Issue 51

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ monthly report on job growth, overall job growth in the United States economy slowed in October. The healthcare sector, however, continued strongly, accounting for 58,000 of the 150,000 new jobs created in October.

Unlike many other sectors, healthcare job growth was actually higher than the monthly average gain of 53,000 over the prior 12 months. Employment in government, construction, and manufacturing also saw higher gains than in the previous 12 months.

Of the 58,000 healthcare jobs created in October, 32,000 were from ambulatory services, 18,000 were from hospitals, and 8,000 were from residential care.
