News: HHS extends COVID public health emergency

Because of the continued consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has extended the public health emergency (PHE).
Starting on October 18, 2021, the PHE takes on its seventh renewal since first determination on January 31, 2020. The PHE was previously renewed on April 21, 2020, July 23, 2020, October 2, 2020, January 7, 2021, April 15, 2021, and July 19, 2021.
The most recent renewal of the PHE declaration will last through January 2022, though may be extended again with consultation of public health officials as necessary.
