News: New York health system plots pay-for-performance initiative

New York City’s Health and Hospitals Corporation represents the nation’s largest public health system, with more than a million ER visits a year, according to a New York Times article. In an effort to align with national trends and reduce healthcare costs the corporation is in negotiations with its physician union.
The plan would make raises, or bonuses of up to $59 million over the next three years, dependent on their performance on quality measures, the Times reports.
