A Note from the ACDIS Director: The best CDI has to offer

CDI Strategies - Volume 10, Issue 18
by Brian Murphy, Director, ACDIS

I’m asked from time to time what excites me most about the ACDIS conference. Perhaps at one time it might have been the allure of the big cities we’ve gone to—Las Vegas, San Diego, San Antonio, Nashville, or this year, Atlanta—but now the answer is easy. It’s the people. I truly believe that ACDIS has the friendliest, most engaged, and truly “happy-to-be-here” crowd I’ve ever seen at a professional conference. I can’t wait to see them all again, and meet friends old and new.

When it comes to people, nothing is quite like honoring the best the profession has to offer with our annual awards. For 2016 we have re-branded our awards, which are now called The ACDIS Achievement Awards. These include four categorizes, two revised and two completely new for 2016:
  • Rookie of the Year (new) recognizes an individual who has served in the CDI profession less than two years from the time of his or her nomination, but has made a significant contribution in that time frame.
  • Excellence in Provider Engagement (new) recognizes an individual who has made a substantive difference within their organization, or on the broader CDI/HIM/coding community, through enhancing medical staff understanding, collaboration, and engagement.
  • Recognition of CDI Professional Achievement recognizes an individual who has made significant achievements as a CDI professional in their facility or within their broader organization.
  • CDI Professional of the Year: Still our most prestigious honor, given to the top CDI in the nation for contributions both in their facility and on the broader CDI community.
Who will win our awards this year? Join us in Atlanta, May 23-26 and meet the winners yourself. We’re honoring them on the big stage right before the general session kicks off on the morning of Tuesday, May 24. We’ll also be featuring them in post-conference edition of our popular members-only CDI Journal. If you can’t attend this year, read, and be inspired by, their stories and achievements—I already am!

Of course the great work your peers have done can’t be recognized if they’re not nominated. So consider them for nomination when our ACDIS Achievement Awards open up again at the end of the year.

See you in Atlanta!
