Note from the ACDIS Director: Goodbye 2025, hello 2026
by Rebecca Hendren
2025 is rolling to an end and I’m always reminded of the classic Old Father Time imagery we see at the end of the year. We are weary from the trials and tribulations of a year—and this year has certainly felt heavy with those—and we are in the depths of winter, facing cold, short days and long, dark nights.
Many of us are able to take a break over the holiday period to find comfort and joy in time with family and friends and share cherished holiday traditions. The ACDIS office is closed from December 24 through January 4 so that the ACDIS team can enjoy some well-earned time off.
We will return in January with renewed pep and vigor, just as Old Father Time is replaced by the bouncing baby imagery of the New Year. We will have a host of new resolutions, including:
- Finding the most relevant and timely topics to cover in the ACDIS Podcast
- Working with dedicated volunteers on our various committees to create new white papers, resources, and provide guidance to the profession
- Coming up with new ideas to ensure we offer the most useful education when and how you need it
- Ensuring the ACDIS conference in April is a time for community, learning, and action that serves to reinvigorate and empower all our attendees, including offering a new CCDS prep study class right before the conference begins
I invite you to spend time with us in 2026 so that ACDIS can support you in your day-to-day life and so that this profession remains what it has always been: one dedicated to non-stop learning, collaboration, and sharing of knowledge and expertise.
In this holiday season, I hope you have a moment to reflect on the year that has passed and the one to come. May we all be the light in others’ lives. Happy holidays and best wishes for a happy, healthy, peaceful new year.
