Note from the ACDIS Editor: CDI Journal provides training tactics

CDI Strategies - Volume 11, Issue 31

By Linnea Archibald

New hire training. Ongoing education. Physician education. Each area holds unique difficulties for the CDI professional in all stages of their careers. Keeping all the CDI staff and physicians on the same page can be a daunting and headache-inducing task. For that reason, the July/August edition of the CDI Journal seeks to outline a few strategies, tips, and tricks from seasoned veterans in the field for keeping your whole team engaged and up-to-date in their CDI education.

Within the pages of the newest edition of the CDI Journal, you’ll find valuable information from a variety of perspectives—from CDI specialists conducting daily reviews, to CDI educators, to the ACDIS Advisory Board members, to the ACDIS leadership team and staff.

First, Associate Editorial Director Melissa Varnavas shares how you can make the most out of the educational opportunities included in your ACDIS membership. Then, Boot Camp Instructor Sharme Brodie, RN, CCDS, shares her tips for developing a CDI process and workflow.

Later in the issue, you’ll find advice on creating a CDI onboarding checklist from Erica Braun, MS, BSN, RN, CCDS, an introduction to the new role of a CDI educator and how it can influence your program, and insight into the problem of medical resident education and its effect on CDI’s mission.

We know how difficult education can be for CDI programs, especially when combined with productivity metrics and expectations. So, sit back and do some summer reading to help you identify the best methods for your busy program.
