Note from the Associate Editorial Director: Don’t let fear stop you from submitting a speaker proposal

CDI Strategies - Volume 13, Issue 38

by Melissa Varnavas

The application deadline for 2020 national conference speakers is tomorrow, Friday, September 13. ACDIS’ “Lucky 13th” conference takes place May 5-8, 2020, at the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

We have a ton of amazing folks submitting really interesting ideas so far! But there’s plenty of room for yours.

ACDIS is a close-knit family of like-minded professionals who share their experiences in order to help their colleagues excel in the role—and that’s just what speaking at ACDIS is all about. Maybe you don’t think you’ve been working in the field long enough or maybe you think you don’t have anything to share or maybe you’re nervous because you’ve never spoken on a national stage before. Don’t set these thoughts aside, dig deeper into them, because they may lead you to a possible presentation idea.

If you are new to CDI practice, did you have an excellent onboarding experience? Consider tapping your mentor or manager and seeing if maybe the two of you can share that onboarding experience with others.

If your role is principally ongoing record reviews, do you have a skillset of mining the record effectively? Those coming to the conference could use a fresh perspective on how to conduct daily reviews compliantly.

If you haven’t presented at a national conference, now might be the time to spread your wings. The ACDIS administration, conference committee, and events staff all support our speakers and work with those selected to perfect their presentations so that both the speakers and the attendees have the best experience possible.

You still have time to submit your ideas—but not much! Don’t delay. Submit your application today.

p.s. The ACDIS Symposium: Outpatient CDI event still has room for a few more poster and lightning round submissions. Those interested can just shoot me an email with their idea. Don’t forget, the early bird deadline for those wishing to attend is next Friday, September 21.
