Q&A: Which version of the DRG Expert should I take to my CCDS exam?

CDI Blog - Volume 12, Issue 50

Q: I’m planning on taking the CCDS exam in the spring of 2019. Should I use the 2019 or 2018 version of the DRG Expert?

A: Either version will be fine for the exam, so I’d suggest using whichever one you’re comfortable with and have access to. The purpose of the exam is to test your knowledge of the CDI process, not your ability to use the most current version of the DRG Expert. If you choose to use an earlier version of the text, you should be aware of the recent fiscal year changes that would not be incorporated within the older version.

Remember that both the 2018 and 2019 versions are comprised of two volumes. You’re allowed to bring both of them in with you along with an approved drug book. For a complete list of allowable materials, download and read the Exam Candidate’s Handbook.
