Infinite Opportunities: 2024 CDI Week State of the Industry

Date: Thursday, September 19, 2024, 1-2:30 p.m. eastern

Presented by: Tiara Minor, RN, BSN, CCDS, Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Director at University of Miami Health System, Debbie Breton, BSN, RN, CCDS, CDI Nurse Educator at Providence Health & Services - Oregon Region, and Michael Gao, Co-founder and CEO at SmarterDx.

Overview:

Did you know that nearly 70% of CDI professionals say they have a 91-100% physician query response rate within their facility’s required timeframe? Did you know that about 64% of CDI programs are involved with some sort of denials management, and 47.16% report reviewing pediatric cases in either the inpatient or outpatient setting?

The data found within this year’s CDI Week Industry Survey can offer CDI professionals insight not only into their own professional careers but also into the direction of their CDI programs compared to their peers, and trends within the broader CDI industry.

Each year, the ACDIS surveys CDI professionals nationwide to take the pulse of the industry as part of the annual CDI Week celebration in September. This year, more than 800 respondents answered questions regarding provider engagement, query metrics and technology, denial trends and CDI involvement, risk adjustment, and unconventional settings. Now, ACDIS will unpack the meaning of the survey results and provide additional perspectives via a panel of experts.

Join ACDIS Editor Jess Fluegel, members of the 2024 Furthering Education Committee, and a guest from SmarterDX for a free webinar on Thursday, September 19, 1-2:30 p.m. eastern, featuring an in-depth discussion on the state of the CDI industry and an open question and answer session.

Learning objectives:

  • Explain the state of the CDI industry related to provider engagement, query metrics and technology, denial trends and CDI involvement, risk adjustment, and unconventional settings
  • Identify areas of potential CDI expansion in the near future based on the survey results
  • Apply survey findings and data to their own CDI programs and work
