CDI Strategies - Volume 7, Issue 5

ACDIS local chapter leaders meet quarterly to exchange ideas, talk about best practices for holding networking meetings, and discuss ways to enhance educational opportunities for CDI professionals within their community. During the February conference call, ACDIS unveiled its new “Leadership Toolkit” which includes more than 24 different documents, including the official chapter agreement form, an application for the Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) continuing education credits, a educational session suggestions, anda speakers’ bureau spreadsheet.

The “Leadership Toolkit” represents more than a year’s worth of effort from a six current and previous chapter leaders from a wide-range of chapter types and includes a variety of donations from members of the ACDIS Advisory Board and others working as ACDIS networking leaders. “A great deal of effort went into making sure that all the different varieties of networking interests were addressed,” says Ailsa Kompare, RN, CCDS, a CDI specialist with Kindred Healthcare's three facilities in Las Vegas.

That meant providing guidance for small, informal networking groups as well as providing sample group bylaws, advice for remote networking efforts, even tips for collecting due for the more formal chapters looking to take the next steps in their growth.

Those interested in joining a local chapter should visit the Local Chapter map and connect with a leader in their area. Those interested in starting a local chapter should review the “Leadership Toolkit” and contact ACDIS Associate Director Melissa Varnavas at mvarnavas@cdiassociation.com
