ACDIS update: Call for Diversity and Inclusion Task Force, ACDIS Podcast volunteers

CDI Strategies - Volume 14, Issue 29

To cap off yesterday’s episode of The ACDIS Podcast: Talking CDI, ACDIS Director Brian Murphy made two very special announcements regarding the association’s commitment to ongoing work to address racism and find ways to ensure that underrepresented groups receive equal opportunities.

First, Murphy announced ACDIS’ plans to create a standing Diversity and Inclusion Task Force. This committee will consist of members of minority groups to ensure ACDIS is doing everything in our power to promote diversity and inclusion within the CDI field, as well as support the Black Lives Matter movement and those who have been oppressed in any way we can.

Secondly, we recognize that one of the most powerful ways we can help as an association is by using our platform and reach to promote the voices and stories of members of the black community within our profession. Our first stride in this will be making the ACDIS Podcast a safe space for these voices to share their stories. We are looking for folks to share their first-hand experiences of racism within the CDI profession on the ACDIS Podcast. These volunteers will lead discussions on this issue as well as what we all, as a community, need to learn and can do to help.

If you fit into the above categories and are interested in either serving on the Diversity and Inclusion Task Force or appearing on an episode of the ACDIS Podcast on this topic, please reach out directly to Brian Murphy (bmurphy@acdis.org).

Please know that ACDIS is a welcoming place and we want to be a platform and an amplifier of diverse voices in the CDI profession and the broader healthcare community.
