CCDS update: How do I recertify my CCDS credential?

CDI Strategies - Volume 12, Issue 13

Every now and again, someone asks us what they need to do to recertify their CCDS credential. It’s easy!

First of all, make sure you know your recertification due date. CCDS holders have to recertify every two years, starting from the date you passed the exam. So, if you passed the exam on March 29, 2018, you would be due to recertify on March 29, 2020. While ACDIS does send out reminders to the email address on file as the date approaches, it is the CCDS holder’s responsibility to know their due date and send their paperwork in on time.

When your due date approaches, you need to complete and submit the recertification application (available on the ACDIS web site) and proof of your CEUs. You don’t have to submit the CEU certificates themselves, but you should keep them in case your application is selected for an audit. You can recycle the certificates once you receive your recertification confirmation letter.

You can pay the recertification fee online, call us with your credit card number, or mail a check. If you choose to pay by check, mail it with your paperwork. Please don’t submit the paperwork by fax/email if you plan to pay by check—this may lead to your paperwork being processed twice.

Should you have questions about the process, visit the recertification page on the website or watch this short video for some tips. If you need to know your due date, contact CCDS Coordinator Penny Richards (prichards@acdis.org).
