Conference corner: A note to 2020 ACDIS conference attendees

CDI Blog - Volume 13, Issue 14

Dear ACDIS members and fellow CDI professionals,

ACDIS leadership is closely monitoring the events unfolding with COVID-19 (coronavirus). Please know first and foremost that your health, safety, and well-being are our top priorities.

We do anticipate that the 13th annual ACDIS Conference will take place as planned on May 5-8, at the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Registration continues to climb and we are excited to unveil six new tracks of education, dynamic and inspiring keynotes, and the opportunity for you to engage and network with the largest dedicated group of CDI professionals across the country.

We have been in close, daily communications with staff at the Mirage to ensure the health and safety of all our attendees, and wanted to share with you some of the comprehensive preventative measures they are taking.

  • The Mirage has temporary enhanced protocols in place. These include:
    • Placing hand sanitizer dispensing stations in high-traffic, visible areas.
      • Examples may include entrances, exits, bathrooms, elevator landings, hotel lobby, showrooms, etc.
    • Reinforcing cleaning and increasing the frequency of disinfectant procedures, with focus on:
      • Faucets and toilet flush levers
      • Doorknobs and locks
      • Entrance and exit doors
      • Handrails

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) continues to report that risk to the general U.S. population is low.  Their guidance for prevention remains the same:

  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick

Currently there are no domestic travel restrictions within the U.S. If you are attending from outside the U.S., please review the international travel guidelines from the CDC.

If you have questions, please contact me directly. Know that we will continue to monitor this fluid situation and provide you with the best communications possible.

We look forward to seeing you and to a successful conference together.

All the best,

Brian Murphy
