Local Chapter Meetings; leaders sought

CDI Strategies - Volume 8, Issue 18

ACDIS local chapter leaders frequently offer leadership in more than just CDI-related educational offerings for their state.

They typically rise to professional leadership as well, becoming content experts for ACDIS and other related association publications--just as former Oregon ACDIS Chapter leader Juanita Carriveau and former Washington ACDIS Chapter leader Jennifer Woodworth have, both having offered insight for the CDI Journal.

Such individuals often earn national recognition for their leadership receiving the CDI Professional of the Year Award or Recognition of CDI Professional Achievement from ACDIS, such as former Indiana leader Sandra Beatty, Long Island, New York leader Adelaide La Rosa, North Carolina leader Jennifer Love, and Maine leader Cathy Seluke, among others, have done.

Other chapter leaders offer their expertise on the ACDIS podium, during poster sessions, or even author books.

Some amazing chapter leaders somehow manage to do all these remarkable things, such as Nancy Rae Ignatowicz who was quoted in the most recent CDI Journal, earned the 2013 CDI Professional of the Year award, created the CDI Toolkit, and spoke at more than one ACDIS National Conference.

The point is, those who volunteer to become ACDIS local chapter leaders truly go on to accomplish great things. It is a testament to their efforts that this profession continues to grow.

If you think you might be ready to take on the mantel of local chapter leader please step forward and reach out to the current leaders in your region. If you do not currently have a chapter in your state, please contact Associate Director Melissa Varnavas at mvarnavas@acdis.org.
