Local Chapter Meetings: Michigan Plans Fall Blow-out

CDI Strategies - Volume 8, Issue 21

Local ACDIS Chapters function in a wide-range of formats and meeting styles; some are more formal than others with sophisticated agenda, schedules, and rotations.

ACDIS Associate Director Melissa Varnavas and Membership Services Specialist Penny Richards were fortunate enough to join in the Indiana ACDIS Chapter conference call on Wednesday, October 8. During the call we reviewed the benefits of ACDIS membership and discussed the CCDS application and renewal process. We are always excited to have an opportunity to talk with the local chapters and look forward to doing more and more of this in 2015.

An additional tip-of-the-hat goes out to the Michigan ACDIS Chapter, which this month pulled out all the stops for its upcoming event Saturday, October 25, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the JW Marriot in Grand Rapids. They have a hefty agenda including Jon Elion, MD, FACC, founder and CEO of ChartWise Medical Systems, in Providence, Rhode Island, and Fran Jurcak, RN, MSN, CCDS, Huron Consulting.

Chapter leaders Sue Haley and Patti Nemeth also interspersed the event with great food—including a full breakfast, “Taste of the Mediterranean Buffet” for lunch, and afternoon snacks. For those arriving Friday, they’ve even set up a pre-conference gathering at the Grand Rapids Brewing Co., within walking distance of the hotel.

Haley and Nemeth also challenged attendees to an essay contest, the prize for which is a collection of Vera Bradley totes and bags. They’re planning additional giveaways and raffles too.

“The stories we share tell us important things about our values and ways of working,” they wrote in their email invitation. Through telling and sharing these stories “we also discover our strengths, those unique talents and skills that allow us to persevere and flourish in our work.”

We can’t wait to read some of the entries! Unfortunately the deadline to register was October 6 but if you’re interested in joining this exciting group, contact them via email at shaley@accrectivehealth.com and pnemeth@accretivehealth.com.
