Local chapter update: Are you planning for a larger meeting this fall?

Spring and fall are generally the times of year where chapters find themselves holding their two required out of the four recommended meetings per year. These spring and fall meetings tend to be larger, and have the added excitement this year of a potential in-person reunion for the first time since COVID-19.

With fall right around the corner, now is the time to decide if you will be hosting a larger event, and if so, what this will entail. These larger events are generally between four and six hours long with multiple speakers, offering CEUs to encourage people to attend.

The meetings can be in-person or virtual, and we recommend creating a survey to send out to your membership asking them which option they are more comfortable with. If you will be applying for CEUs for these events, you should also do that soon as we require a minimum of 30 days before the event to process a CEU request.

Remember, you can always reach out to ACDIS National for advice or help as you plan, and be sure to keep ACDIS informed about upcoming meetings so we can post them to your webpage and work with your team to secure CEUs for your event.

August:

  • The Oklahoma ACDIS chapter meets Wednesday, August 11, 12 p.m., via webinar for a virtual Oklahoma facility roundtable. The event will be hosted by chapter leaders Darcy Genisio and Kate Siemens.   • The Tennessee ACDIS chapter meets Friday, August 13, 1 p.m., via webinar. The topic will be “Mutually Accountable Leadership.” For information, contact Kristie Perry (Kristie.Perry@Erlanger.org).
  • The CDI Educators networking group meets Friday, August 13, 10:30-11:30 a.m., via webinar, for an open forum meeting. For information, contact Nadine Casillas (nadine.casillas@bannerhealth.com).
  • The Kansas City, Missouri, ACDIS chapter meets Thursday, August 19, 1 p.m., for the quarterly membership call. For information, contact Debra Canova (Debra.Canova@tmcmed.org).
  • The Maryland ACDIS chapter meets Friday, August 20, 12-2 p.m., via webinar. For information, contact Deb McClain (dlmcclain@frederick.health).
  • The Arizona ACDIS chapter meets Saturday, August 21, via webinar with AzHIMA for a virtual coding roundtable and summit. The leadership team also seeks additional volunteers. For information, contact Sydni Johnson (sydni.johnson@bannerhealth.com).
  • The Minnesota ACDIS chapter meets Wednesday, August 25, 1-2 p.m., via webinar. The topic will be heart failure. For information, contact Jera Van Damme (jera.vandamme@essentiahealth.org). 
  • The St. Louis Missouri ACDIS chapter meets Wednesday, August 25, 5-6:45 p.m., via webinar. The topic will be “Developing Your Inner Leader.” For information, contact Linda Canoy (linda.canoy@bjc.org).

September:

  • The Kansas City, Missouri, ACDIS chapter meets Wednesday, September 8, 2-3:30 p.m. Details to follow. For information, contact Debra Canova (Debra.Canova@tmcmed.org).
  • The Maryland ACDIS chapter meets Friday, September 17, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., virtually for the annual conference. This will be an all-day conference. Final agenda and registration to be announced soon.  For information, contact Deb McClain (dlmcclain@frederick.health).
  • The Minnesota ACDIS chapter meets Wednesday, September 22, 1-2 p.m., via webinar. The topic will be system clinical definitions. For information, contact Jera Van Damme (jera.vandamme@essentiahealth.org).
