Local Chapter Update: Local groups create newsletters for members

CDI Strategies - Volume 10, Issue 27

Following on the heels of its successful full-day conference, the California ACDIS Chapter released the first edition of what it hopes will be a quarterly newsletter for its state members. The four-member publication committee includes: Shiloh Williams, Emily Emmons, Rani Stoddard, and Madhu Subherwal. All four also work throughout the year to provide members with bi-monthly web-based education and help plan the annual conference event.

In their first edition they included articles on post-operative respiratory failure and the new sepsis-3 criteria as well as a recap of the webinar education provided through over the year. They wrote:

“We hope to bring additional CDI-related education, information on local and national events, and even interviews with our chapter members, right to your inbox! Providing services like these to our members is one of our most important missions as an official state chapter of ACDIS and we look forward to continuing this important task!”

They’re not the only ones putting their chapter’s collective CDI knowledge to advanced offerings. The Florida ACDIS Chapter actually had a newsletter for its members back when it first started meeting a number of years ago. This year, the team successfully brought the practice back by including photos and recapping its spring event, offering several news items, explaining Florida chapter membership benefits, and providing information about upcoming events.

The Maryland ACDIS Chapter also has a newsletter in which it posits questions to its members, offers links to educational articles and presentations, and shares membership news. In the latest edition, chapter leader Olga Firstbrook recaps the ACDIS National Conference:

“Our MD chapter was very well represented on the national level as we had approximately 30 attendees! We were all able to celebrate together as we had three tables full of MD members sporting their MD-Ravens-Orioles pride. It was a wonderful time to meet everyone and socialize with our peers.”

You can find these newsletters on the ACDIS website. If your state has a newsletter they’d like to share please email ACDIS Editorial Director Melissa Varnavas at mvarnavas@acdis.org.
