Local Chapter updates: Chapter leaders show state-pride at national

CDI Strategies - Volume 11, Issue 23

Local chapter leaders from all over the country showed their ACDIS pride on Day 2 of the national conference in Las Vegas last week. (Read more about them in the special conference daily.)

Maryland chapter leaders arguably put the most creative energy behind their table decorations and Day 2 dress theme. Attendees wore the state flower, black-eyed susans, on their clothing and in bouquets. Leaders made stenciled letters reading Maryland decorated in the state colors and flag and ACDIS colored in purple and orange glitter. The team then stuck the letters to an expandable, ribbon coated, curtain rods with Velcro and help them upright so they could be seen from across the crowded exhibit hall. They took multiple photos including an exclusive with ACDIS Director Brian Murphy.

South Carolina and Florida both brought out inflatable palm trees, with the South Carolina group distinguishing their tables with the addition of battery-operated “SC” which light-up. The Utah folks brought golden Mylar balloon letters of their state and brought their own helium tank in the car with them to inflate them. Indiana had balloons, too, in a checker-board pattern to represent the finishing line flag at the Indianapolis 500. The team also had a race track and little cars as the table centerpiece.

The folks from New Mexico had special shirts made with “505” in orange glitter on the back with the center “0” a Mexican sugar-skull representing one of two area codes in the state, according to Anna Kramer who had the shirts made for the team.

After-hours, the California chapter gathered at the MGM Grand’s Top Golf and the Massachusetts folks headed off to the Linq for dinner at the YardHouse and a trip on Vegas’ one-and-only Ferris wheel.

There was such a tremendous outpouring of support from and for our local chapters, and far too many amazing stories to share them all. If you attended the conference and have a photo of your chapter gathering please pass them along to us for use in our special conference wrap-up section coming next month.
