Local chapter updates: New chapters, networking groups crop up nationwide

Did you know there are more than 40 ACDIS Local Chapters and networking groups nationwide? And, that number grows on an almost daily basis.

The CDI Educator ACDIS Network, for instance, grew out of conversations between educators at the 10^th annual ACDIS conference back in May and now holds monthly conference calls. Since the role is a new one in CDI, the educator group shares experiences and tips on a variety of topics during their calls—from new staff onboarding to physician education. The next call takes place on Monday, August 14. For information, contact M.E. VanGelder (ME.vangelder@honorhealth.com).

Another new chapter is forming in the Hudson Valley/Westchester area of New York. This chapter seeks to reach those outside of the jurisdictions covered by the other fine New York chapters. The chapter is working hard planning an event for this fall. If you’re in the area and interested in helping out, contact Kerry Seekircher (kseekircher@northwell.edu).

Idaho may also see the rise of a Local Chapter soon. Though this group is just in the preliminary stages right now, ACDIS would love if anyone interested in either participating or joining would reach out. There are exciting things happening all over the country for ACDIS right now and those are just a few of them. ACDIS is also considering starting up networking groups for physician advisors and CDI managers/directors in the future. August:

• The Massachusetts Chapter meets on August 11, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Crowne Plaza in Newton. The event is in collaboration with New England state AHIMA and ACDIS component organizations. To register, click here. Note: This event is near capacity.
