Member insight: Achieving compliant query practice through audits

Brigham and Women’s Hospital is an 800-bed academic medical center in Boston affiliated with Harvard Medical School; Brigham Faulkner Hospital is a 150-bed community hospital located in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts.

Combined, these two hospitals send out over 1,000 queries per month. Because of the volume, we needed a continuing program for query compliance. We selected the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) problem solving methodology to ensure we were sending compliant queries. Our guidance comes from ACDIS and AHIMA industry standards, and we have a general model of peer-to-peer auditing..
