News: 2024 Healthgrades’ 100 Best Hospitals list released

CDI Strategies - Volume 18, Issue 4

With the start of the new year, Healthgrades has released their 2024 America’s 100 Best Hospitals list. These hospitals are in the top 2% in the nation for exhibiting consistent clinical excellence, evaluated through patient outcomes data of more than 30 conditions or procedures from every United States hospital including heart attack, pneumonia, and sepsis.

According to Healthgrades’ methodology page, “the overall performance score for each hospital is calculated using volume-weighted z-scores averaged across all complication and mortality-based cohorts.” They used Medicare inpatient data from the Medicare Provider Analysis and Review spanning from 2020 through 2022. Hospitals are ranked by how many consecutive years they’ve met these requirements as well as their volume-weighted z-score for the 2024 award year.
