News: AHA debuts ‘MACRA 101’ video series

CDI Strategies - Volume 10, Issue 46

The American Hospital Association (AHA) released a series of videos to educate hospitals, clinicians, and trustees on the new system outlined in the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA).

Under MACRA, providers must choose from one of two paths beginning in 2017. They can either participate in an alternative payment model (APM), such as an accountable care organization, or they can join in the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), which requires doctors to submit quality-reporting data to Medicare.

The videos are divided into two series—the first provides a high-level policy perspective while the second features physician leaders discussing education strategies to consider. The first series includes AHA policy experts and highlights what MACRA does and its implications for physicians and hospitals. The second features three physician leaders from the AHA’s Committee on Clinical Leadership, who discuss how to engage clinicians in MACRA implementation efforts.

Both series, about 25 minutes each, are broken down into mini-segments, a useful tool for educating busy providers.
