News: Boston facility investigated for inappropriate billing

CDI Strategies - Volume 6, Issue 4

Boston’s Beth Israel Deaconess hospital is the latest facility to succumb to investigations regarding potentially inappropriate billing for inpatient services, according to a February 6 article in the Boston Globe. The Globe indicated that investigators subpoenaed six years of records from the facility as the OIG/DOJ look to determine if Beth Israel admitted patients who could have been served in an outpatient setting thus costing the government more for their care.

Beth Israel indicated it was “committed” to fixing any errors found by the investigation, a spokeswoman for Beth Israel told The Globe.
