News: CMS announces new data submission system for the Quality Payment Program

CDI Strategies - Volume 12, Issue 2

CMS recently unveiled an updated data submission system for physicians participating in the Quality Payment Program (QPP). Participating physicians will use the system to submit 2017 performance data for the QPP during the 2017 submission period, which started January 2 and runs till March 31, according to CMS.

The new system, which can be accessed via the Quality Payment Program website, is designed to make data reporting for the QPP less burdensome for participating physicians. Unlike former systems under the CMS legacy programs, the new system allows eligible physicians to submit all QPP data into one website and provides several options for data submission, including extracting data from a certified EHR.

Clinicians participating in the program will be required to log into the system. After reporting data either as an individual or a group, physicians will be provided with real-time scoring feedback within each of the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) criteria, according to CMS.

CMS encourages feedback on QPP data submission from eligible physicians and will continue to add new features to the system based on user input, according to a detailed fact sheet on the system released by CMS.
