News: CMS issues first report on states spending Rural Health Transformation Program funding

CDI Strategies - Volume 20, Issue 48

CMS has released its first report on how states are implementing funds from the Rural Health Transformation Program, which will distribute $50 billion to rural providers from fiscal year (FY) 2026 to FY 2030. The report covers the period from December 29, 2025, to July 31, 2026.

The report details how much each state allocated for the first year of the program, which would be spent by September 2027. While it is not a full view of state progress, the report includes states’ obligated funds to state agencies, contractors and vendors, community partners, hospitals and facilities, and more.

Following the submission of the November 30, 2026, Quarterly Report, CMS will update the information and refresh the data quarterly thereafter.
