News: Quality Forum leader to step down

CDI Strategies - Volume 6, Issue 6

After serving as the president of the National Quality Forum (NQF) for more than six years, Janet Corrigan earlier this month announced her plans to leave her post at the non-profit membership organization, according to a press release from the group.

Originally envisioned as a national “voluntary consensus standard-setting organization,” the NQF works across the industry to improve quality in healthcare. It notably originated the term “never event” and worked with CMS and other agencies on a variety of projects including the physician quality reporting initiative. Corrigan’s resignation is effective late June 2012 and a search committee is exploring potential successors.
