Note from the ACDIS Editor: Education makes all the difference in the new CDI Journal edition!
by Jess Fluegel
With sunny days at the poolside, weekend getaways, and adventures far from home, summertime invites us to forget our troubles and indulge in what we enjoy most. If you’re a CDI professional, of course, there’s a high likelihood you enjoy education just as much.
While the ACDIS office is closed tomorrow for the Fourth of July holiday, on relaxing days under the sun, or in between your next adventure, we invite you open up the July/August edition of the CDI Journal, and dive into every facet of CDI education. We’ve dedicated this edition to topics like onboarding, staff education, provider education and engagement, and more!
In this edition, readers will find articles about:
- How three organizations developed resident education
- Rethinking CDI staff education in a digital age
- The evolution of sepsis from SIRS to SOFA
- Inspiration from the 2025 ACDIS conference
- Utilizing audits in CDI education
- CDI and resident education
- Building bridges during CDI onboarding
- CDI and reporting PSIs, HACs, and mortality metrics
- Challenges related to maternal and pediatrics SDOHs
- How feedback and collaboration improve a CDI education program
- Achieving provider education results in CDI
The ACDIS team hopes you enjoy this latest edition and find something helpful in its pages. As always, the CDI Journal is a benefit of ACDIS membership. To learn more about joining ACDIS, click here. ACDIS members can earn one CCDS/CCDS-O CEU for reading each edition of the Journal and taking the associated quiz. You can learn more on the full edition download page.
Writing for the CDI Journal is also a great opportunity for CDI professionals to share their hard-earned wisdom. Our next edition will have a very interesting focus: global perspectives on CDI! We’ll be talking about how CDI impacts all areas of healthcare—across departments, settings, and patient populations.
If you’d like to write for our next edition, we’d love to receive your submission. Contributors published in the Journal receive 0.5 ACDIS CEU per 350 published words, and articles tend to be around the 750-1,500-word mark. The deadline for the September/October edition on education is August 1, 2025!
I hope this edition helps you in every area of CDI education you may find yourself involved in. You can submit your article for our next Journal edition here. Please reach out to me if you have any questions
