Note from the ACDIS Editor: Strengthen your clinical and coding fluency in the newest CDI Journal!

CDI Strategies - Volume 20, Issue 10

by Jess Fluegel

The most well-attended track at the ACDIS conference year-over-year has always been the “Clinical & Coding” track. Most CDI professionals come from a clinical background and have a basic understanding of what they see on a medical record, and yet these deep dives into problem diagnoses and medical complications presented at the conference never fail to attract a large crowd. Likely, this is because clinical knowledge is only one of the languages a CDI professional must have fluency in—and medical coding is certainly its equal in complexity.

To assist you in this multilingual pursuit, we decided to dedicate the March/April edition of the CDI Journal to clinical and coding topics.

In this edition, readers will find articles about:

The ACDIS team hopes you enjoy this latest edition and find something helpful in its pages. As always, the CDI Journal is a benefit of ACDIS membership. To learn more about joining ACDIS, click here. ACDIS members can earn one CCDS/CCDS-O CEU for reading each edition of the Journal and taking the associated quiz. You can learn more on the full edition download page.

Our next edition will be all about denials! Contributing to the CDI Journal is a great opportunity for CDI professionals to share insight with the community, plus you can receive 0.5 CEUs per 350 published words (articles tend to be around the 750-1,500-word mark). If you have advice to share on denials prevention, management, or a similar topic, we’d love to receive your submission.

The deadline for the March/April edition is April 1, 2025! You can send your submissions via this form: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CDI-journal.

We hope this edition helps you and your CDI program fill the gaps and heal the disconnect between different areas of healthcare! Please reach out to me if you have any questions or are interested in writing for our next Journal edition.
