Note from the Associate Director, Product Development: New CCDS Exam Prep Class

CDI Strategies - Volume 11, Issue 1

I’m excited to share some good news this week. Due to popular demand, ACDIS has created a new boot camp devoted to the CCDS credential. In two days, the class will prepare participants for all the areas the examination covers, how best to study for it, and even day-of-test tips to ensure you enter the room with confidence.

The CCDS Exam Prep Class launching with live classes in February and April with an online version to follow in the next few months. The main focus areas reflect those outlined in the examination content (see the CCDS Candidate Handbook for more information):

  • Healthcare regulations, reimbursement, and documentation requirements related to the Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS)
  • Anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and medical terminology
  • Medical record documentation
  • Healthcare facility CDI program analysis
  • Communication skills
  • Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting
  • Professionalism, ethics, and compliance
  • Impact of reportable diagnoses on quality of care

The first class will be taught by venerable CDI Education Director Laurie Prescott, who is excited to spend time focusing on key areas of CDI competency to help clinical documentation professionals feel confident in sitting for the exam that demonstrates their professionalism and proficiency in this important job.

You can find out more about the program here on our website. In the meantime, I’d be interested in hearing what other CCDS prep material you may find useful.

Happy New Year!
