Put PEPPER to proper use

Imagine sitting down to take an exam and the teacher tells you exactly what’s on the test. Not only that, but the teacher’s putting the answers up on the blackboard. PEPPER is a lot like that. It outlines areas that are at risk for payment errors (referred to in the report as “target areas”) against national reporting norms. It then compares your individual facility data to others in your state, and within fiscal intermediary/Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) region. But somehow, CDI specialists still don’t seem to know about the Program for Evaluating Payment Patterns Electronic Report (PEPPER) and the benefit it can have on their program.
