St. Cloud says review records for moms and newborns, too
Karolyn Skudlarek, RN, and the CDI staff at St. Cloud (MN) Hospital have performed reviews of OB/ newborn documentation since they started the CDI program in February 2008.A 489-bed facility (average daily census of 307 beds), St. Cloud employs three CDI reviewers.
Although it hasn’t dedicated a full-time reviewer to the Family Birthing Center with its 41 OB beds, it has assigned one CDI specialist to the department as a resource. Skudlarek estimates that about 5% of the mothers’ charts they review result in a query.
