ACDIS update: Conference Committee volunteers sought
Every year, ACDIS puts out a call for volunteers to serve on the conference committee. In 2018, we received 72 applications for the 12-member committee. We cannot thank them enough for their efforts. (Read more about the 2018 team, here.)
Committee members come from a variety of professional backgrounds, geographic locations, facility sizes, a mix of known (up to three individuals who served on this committee previously) and new-to-us individuals, etc., to adequately reflect the diversity of the ACDIS membership and the CDI profession. (A number of those who volunteered but were not chosen for the conference committee were then asked to serve on other boards and participate with ACDIS in other ways. We appreciate everyone’s contributions to our industry’s success.)
The work performed by the committee requires a nearly year-long commitment with telephone conference calls of roughly an hour in length, twice a month, as well as time on your own spent reviewing submitted materials and providing online feedback to the committee and administration.
The conference committee is responsible for:
- Reviewing attendee feedback from previous year’s event to highlight opportunities for improvement
- Identifying topics/themes for the conference tracks
- Determining “must-have” session content suggestions to guide potential submissions
- Assessing speaker proposals and presentation drafts for content, compliance, and accuracy
- Ensuring speakers abide by necessary proposal guidelines and requirements
- Acting as an ambassador for the conference and the association
- Assisting in recruitment and assessment of the annual ACDIS Achievement Award nominations
- Evaluating proposals for ACDIS’ poster presentations
- Participating (as able) onsite with event moderation, poster presentations, team meet-up, etc.
If you are interested in volunteering for the conference committee please complete the online survey. We hope to have our first meeting by the end of June! For additional information, contact ACDIS Associate Editorial Director Melissa Varnavas at mvarnavas@acdis.org.
